MCRM Fertility & Women’s Health Center is extremely excited to be offer a second “Fertiity & Genetics Carrier” Screening Event, November 7th and November 8th. In August, we held our first such event and had such overwhelming demand that we wanted to be able to offer this critical testing to those who were unable to attend at the time. This is an optimal opportunity for any woman of child-bearing age, interested in learning about how her “Biological Clock Ticks” and whether or not she and her partner are potential carriers of a serious genetic disorder. The assessment allows a woman to have an understanding of how her biological clock ticks and can better prepare her for future fertility plans.Genetic carrier screening investigates one’s potential of passing along a severe genetic disorder such as Cystic Fibrosis, Fragile-X Syndrome, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Thalassemia, Sickle Cell, Ashkenazi Jewish and many others. While statically low, with each pregnancy there is a small chance of having a baby with a genetic disorder.
