MCRM Fertility Receives Egg Cryopreservation Accreditation

Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology, which collects data from fertility centers for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Individuals interested in pursuing fertility preservation through egg/oocyte freezing can do so at MCRM Fertility with high confidence. The Frozen Egg Bank Network, a division of Donor Egg Bank USA, has presented MCRM Fertility with a unique “Seal of Quality Assurance, Trained in Oocyte Cryopreservation ”. In order to have been presented with this seal, MCRM Fertility’s lab director, Dr. Gliedt, has had to pass a rigorous set of requirements and training specifically related to oocyte freezing/cryopreservation. “There are fertility centers across the region that offer to preserve one’s fertility but MCRM Fertility is the only center to officially be accredited as specifically trained in utilizing the latest techniques and science that lead to successful future outcomes,” states medical director, Dr. Peter Ahlering. As the technology and process used for egg freezing have improved, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) declared the procedure no longer “experimental” in 2012 and cited studies showing frozen eggs could be as effective as fresh eggs for use in in-vitro fertilization. The advance responsible for such success rates is called “vitrification”, a procedure in which eggs are frozen so quickly they have a better chance of surviving, undamaged, years later. In order to maintain accreditation, embryologists from participating centers in the Frozen Egg Bank Network must achieve and maintain an 80 percent or greater egg survival rate. Participating clinics and embryologists must be re-certified four times a year. MCRM Fertility can assist those individuals who desire to preserve their future fertility. The process begins easily and quickly with a simple consultation. To schedule an initial consultation, please call 844-41-4BABY.
