Time It May Take to Get Pregnant When Seeing a Specialist?

If you’re trying to conceive and have been unable to get pregnant, a fertility specialist may be able to help. At MCRM Fertility, we offer a wide range of fertility treatments to assist you in your goal of starting a family. Following are a few factors that determine how long it may take to get pregnant if you’re seeing a fertility expert:

Underlying Fertility Issues

The time it takes to achieve pregnancy can partially depend on underlying fertility issues. Ovulation disorders, endometriosis, fallopian tube abnormalities, male factor infertility, and uterine abnormalities may delay your chances of conceiving. During your initial visit, we can evaluate your medical and fertility history to establish existing fertility issues.

The fertility evaluation process can also include bloodwork and an ultrasound to evaluate your uterine cavity and ovarian reserve. Magnified sperm analysis or sperm DNA fragmentation testing on your partner can also be part of the evaluation process. Our fertility specialists can perform tests to assess hormone levels that may contribute to infertility. If needed, they can also prescribe hormonal treatments and utilize advanced technologies to increase your chances of conceiving.

Treatment Type

The specific fertility treatment our specialists recommend can also influence how long it may take to get pregnant. At MCRM Fertility, we can recommend in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intrauterine insemination (IUI) for your fertility treatment.

Intrauterine insemination involves injecting a prepared and concentrated sperm specimen into the uterus using a catheter. IUI cycles at our clinic uses ultrasound monitoring to determine the right insemination timing.

In vitro fertilization (IVF) can be another fertility treatment to help you get pregnant. IVF is considered to be the most successful form of advanced fertility treatment.  To increase the outlook of success, we often recommend preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) to evaluate created embryos.

Preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy evaluates the number of chromosomes present within an embryo. This allows for the ability to only transfer those embryos which test normal or euploid. This can increase the chances of a successful outcome and reduce the length of time it requires.

IVF with an egg donor is another treatment option. This may be an option for women with diminished ovarian reserve or little to no available egg supply. The process of treatment with IVF utilizing an egg donor is similar to IVF alone and remains a multi-step process. However, the length of time to complete is often longer and can be influenced by several additional factors.  These can include the egg donor selection process, the egg donor evaluation process, and the required legal proceedings.

Individual Response

Each person’s response to fertility treatments can vary. Some might need multiple treatments to get pregnant while others experience success more quickly. A fertility expert may suggest that you make lifestyle changes that increase the likelihood of conception.

Fertility is a personal matter that is determined by various factors related to your lifestyle and physiology. There is no solution that works the same way for everyone.  Ou fertility experts will work with you to understand your personal fertility goals and needs. They will take on the role of knowledgeable advisors and help you make informed decisions about your own fertility.
